Breaking News: Alan Reports Live (sort of...) On the New AT&T Channel Guide
The new AT&T U-verse channel guide is out. See my report....live (sort of) from our editorial offices and broadcast studio at the Olmos Soda Fountain in San Antonio.
I am having trouble with YouTube configuration this morning so to see the video, just click here.

Alan,
Regarding your intent to report more about the "integrated approach" that AT&T is utilizing. This is of great interest to me, and I'd assume others who study this market sector.
We've already seen the leading U.S. cable MSO players evolve into a business model of 250+ channels, and yet consumers say that there's often nothing really compelling to watch.
How do believe AT&T has addressed (or could address) this content sourcing challenge -- tackling abundant irrelevance with something unique or otherwise compelling?
Is the whole notion of linear TV 'channels' somewhat obsolete given the huge success of the 'random' Netflix model, or 'on-demand' cable and satellite PVR model?
Should most content -- with the exception of live news, weather, sports, etc. -- move to a purely 'video on demand' model?
In other words, AT&T has a potentially innovative platform with U-verse, so tell us about signs you see of substantive creativity that will differentiate AT&T -- as it will otherwise trigger a 'pay-TV commodity' price war in the San Antonio market.
Cheers, DHD
